The recruiter's promise of adventure and high pay sours, when Genjiro finds out what the job really is. By then, it's too late to back out. Kai's Chatter Box News for 16 March, 2001 Server Problems, Yet Again... Well, here it is 5 a.m. PST, and I still can't upload my comics. I don't know what the problem was, this time, but I'm very very sorry for the delay. All I know is that I'm so sleepy I could drop on the floor, right this minute...just step over me... Server stuff aside, I do have a little good news: I'm finally getting a CD-RW drive!! Banzai!! After a nice exchange with the folks at MacConnection, I have found an affordable CD ReWritable drive for my ancient Mac. I'm so relieved!! Finally, a way to back up my hard drive, so I won't have another disk crash fiasco. Last time it happened, I literally lost everything on the old drive, including some irreplaceable emails and artwork that I had done completely in PhotoShop. This is a huge HUGE relief to me!! Consequently, I'm feeling a tiny bit less pressured by the constant "Scratch Disk Full" errors I keep getting, trying to handle these enormous ShadowFall scans. It's my own fault, though. When I replaced the last hard drive (which was only 2 gb), I got a 10 gb drive and then failed to partition it into smaller drives. Because of the way the Mac saves files on a large drive, this failure of mine resulted in a lot of wasted space in the way of tiny files taking up a big block of disk space. I have learned my lesson, and this time, I'm partitioning. Now if I could just get AOL to work, properly... (I know; that's an impossible dream, ne?!)
