Yaaaaa!! Invasion of the Ants!!!
Sigh...everywhere I have lived, I have had at least one ant invasion, per year. Now, I've finally had the big one for this place. Literally thousands of the little devils were all over the carpet on Wednesday night, and with the carpet being kind of a weave pattern with maroon, orange, yellow and dark brown threads, the reddish-brown ants were almost invisible. That is, until you looked down and saw a large piece of carpet that appeared to be doing the mamba. ***shudders*** I hate ants in the house! The ants are apparently gone, this morning, but the lovely ***gasp, choke, cough*** scent of Raid ant killer lingers in the air like some kind of fragrant nerve gas. And did I mention ***GASP, CHOKE, COUGH***?!? Thank goodness I'm feeling better, today, or I wouldn't be able to deal with this.
Let's see...some other big news is my sneaky use of a little ink in today's comic. Well, okay...more than a little. All this time, I've been stalwartly trudging along with pencils, only, filling in the black areas with heavy strokes of soft lead, and killing my right wrist. When Genjiro is in the panels, this means I can spend as much as two days working on a single page, just to fill in his voluminous black hair (and right now, there are two black-haired people on each page!!!). It's so much easier to draw Ilyana and her softly shaded blonde hair!!! I need to draw more of Ili, or have Gen bleach his hair or shave his head--neither of which I could get him to do, even with the threat of torture and death, as he knows girls love that long hair. (~-^) Anyway, I'm trying out a brush pen, just for the hair, so I can finish a Genjiro page in a single day, and still retain a little texture. I'm not sure how I feel about the ink, though. If anyone dislikes it or finds it doesn't look right, somehow, please let me know and I'll go back to pencils only. You can post your comments in the message board, or send them to me in a private email, if you'd rather not have anyone else know what you think. My email address is ShadowFall @ KyokiPress.com .
The last thing for today is the (sort of) reopening of the Kyoki Press store. I still haven't gotten the custom page forms to work properly, but while I'm messing with it, I thought I should at least give the links to my merchandise on the CafePress site. You can get to those on my Store page. The links there will open their respective store pages in a new window, so you won't get completely dragged to a different site.
Thanks to everyone for reading my comics, and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
(^-^)
