We're Back!! \(^o^)/
First of all, I'd like to take a moment to thank my good friends, Sarah Huntrods and Matt Bourque, for the cool comics they did for me. You guys are the best!! Check out Sarah's site at Ceph, and Matt's at Delinquents. Matt is also working on a new comic, Sinner, so keep an eye out for it! It looks to be very very cool. If you missed the guest comics that I ran over the last couple of weeks, you can find them in the Special Comics dropdown, at left, under "Where's Kaichi?" Thanks, again, friends!
And...I'm very excited about working on Series Two: The Secret of Nin!!! This one is the product of a couple of years of learning how to format my prose work for comics, and I'm hoping to make it my best work, to date. I've given myself a big challenge, in the drawing department. SoN is going to be very difficult to draw, but the difficulty level should push my art a peg or two higher, in quality, over time.
If you've looked at the cover page for this first issue, you'll also notice I've changed the ShadowFall logo. The one I was using, before, was hand-drawn, and now seems to me to be too heavy and gothic to fit the story. I needed something a little sleeker, and I think I like this new font I've found. I'm still kind of iffy about it, though, so I may change it, later, if I decide I don't like it, after all. If anyone knows of a good Mac Postscript font that might look good for a logo, let me know. I'd like to try out some different styles, before I make up my mind, for sure.
So far, I'm also happy with my new host! I have not yet seen any significant downtime, and my CGI permissions seem unwilling to reset themselves, at random. If things keep up this well, I'll likely stay with PowWeb until my bandwidth grows beyond their limit. Because of the increased reliability of their servers, I've decided to discontinue adding updates to the mirror sites. It's been a lot of extra work for me, and if I don't see any real problems with downtime on the new site, I don't see any need for the mirrors.
Oh, and I'm renovating the Asia Comix directory, right now, bit by bit. I'm very disappointed in the links script I'm using for it, as it seems to be full of syntax errors. It has not worked, properly, since I first set it up, and I don't have the time to keep messing with it. I've decided to discard the CGI script, and set the directory up with straight HTML, so I can be assured that it will always work. It will be a lot of work to set up, in the beginning, but I won't have to worry so much about it, after it's done. I won't be able to have the cool search or rating functions, but the real value of the directory is in the links, themselves. I'll also be able to set it up using 200 x 40 pixel banners for each of the comics, which will make the links much easier to use. The ability to see some of the artwork is always a great help.
Anyway, that's it, for today! I'm glad to be back, and I'm looking forward to sharing with you guys my best comics work, yet!
(^-^)
