Kai's Chatter Box

News for 6 December, 2002
Sigh...A Very Tiring and Artistically Unproductive Week...

***Updated 9 December, 2002!! Well, I still didn't get the cover art finished, but I at least finished page one of issue two of "The Secret of Nin." I thought I'd never be left alone long enough to finish this, and it was a difficult page, to start with. I apologize for the delay, and hope everyone likes the latest page. I'm going to do my best to put page two up before Friday, and also finish the cover. Things have just not been going my way, lately. (6.^) ***

Guh...Thanksgiving week really threw me off. Littlest niece and nephew were here for four solid days and nights, so there was no working on anything creative, for me! The dinner was nice, though, and I really enjoyed the yummy baked ham and fried turkey.

This week has been pretty hectic and stressful for me, too, unfortunately. I was hoping to have a chance to get some extra artwork done, but wound up not having the time to do any of it, other than start the difficult first panel shown, above. I must apologize for posting only part of this page, but I promised an update for today, and by the gods, I'm going to post SOMETHING, just to show I really am working on art! (~-^)

A lot of things have gotten in my way, this week, though, including more time-consuming trips to the distant animal hospital for follow-up care for Mom's dog. He's doing great, btw; apparently his tumors were not cancerous, and his surgical scars are healing nicely! Also, I've been sick with heart trouble, again, and unable to sleep for two nights because of it. I don't know if that's over or not, as it has hit me when I've gone to bed. I feel okay during the day, but then I go to bed and WHAM! Suddenly there are explosions going on in my chest. Maybe I'll be better, tonight. I hope so, because I still have a LOT of artwork to do, and I'm also way behind on emails. To those of you who are waiting on replies from me, I apologize for taking so long. I will get to them as soon as I can.

Another thing that's taken up a lot of my time (though not an unpleasant thing) has been teaching my mom how to use her new iMac. She's totally new to personal computers, so I've had to teach her how to turn it on, how to use the mouse, how to click on things and what everything is. She's learning well, and has now begun to try things on her own. I'm proud of her! But I have spent many many hours this week, in computer tutoring. Heh...I also installed a little poker game on her iMac, and she told me, at first, "No, don't need any game. I don't know how to play!" But I showed her how to do it, and she watched me play it for a long time. Tonight, she came into my room grinning, and said, "I win $5,200!!!" I thought she meant on the lottery, so I got excited. Then she said, "No! On poker game!" She's now thoroughly addicted to this game she told me she didn't want. I feel utterly devious! mwahahaha!

Anyway, I'll try to have the other 2/3 of this page on sometime today, though I know Mom wants me to go with her to Dallas to get some stuff for her computer, so I may run out of time, again. If I do, I'll just post the comic (and hopefully by then I'll also have done the cover art and link art for the new issue!!) on Saturday, and folks returning on Monday will have that to see. I really apologize for falling behind on the updates, but this is all I'm capable of doing, at the moment. If I could do more, I surely would! Thanks to all my good friends for sticking with me through my troublesome times! You guys truly are the best readers a guy could hope for!!

(^-^)
