Bleah...I Need a Whole New Life
Well, I'm sorry this page took me so long to upload, today. Last night, I had a very stupid accident, which prevented me from finishing the art. I was going to put the cat out, and stupidly didn't turn on any lights, because I didn't want someone to get mad at the lights being on and get up and yell at me. So, in front of the door, I bent over to put the cat down, to free up my hands to open the door. Unfortunately for me, Pop had left the new exercise bike he had just assembled for Mom right where I was bending over, so WHAM! My stupid head hit it. Normally, I have a pretty good sense of where things are, in the dark, but last night, I didn't sense that bike until I had already built up too much momentum to stop in time. In any case, I was dizzy, nauseated, and vomiting for a while, last night, and couldn't see well enough to finish the page. I still have a headache. I hit that thing hard! I finally did get it done, though, as you can see. Again, I apologize for being late. It's my own stupid fault.
Anyway, griping aside, in case anyone missed the cover art that I put on for Monday, you can see it, here: Cover for Issue 2. Carson told me it reminded him of an old Marvel Comics cover, one of those done by Steve Ditko, because of the energy doohickeys behind Chi. I suppose I should consider that a compliment. (~-^) I've also made a new wallpaper with that piece of art, but I didn't have time to do the HTML for it, so I'll upload it another day.
I did upload the original pencil art for the cover, which is now in my gallery, here: Chi Performing Mudra. I was very pleased with this art, which is unusual for me. (~-^) It shows Chi Nguyen performing one of the mudra, or hand symbols, of the kuji-kiri part of ninjutsu. I love the mystical stuff!! The original is 9 x 12 inches, and will soon be on its way to one of the donors and friends of ShadowFall. I have a bunch of art like this lined up to complete and send to previous donors, so I'm hoping to find a nice chunk of time during the holidays (hahahaha! I'm sooooo naive!!!) to do them. I'm still offering this artwork to anyone who donates at least $20 to the comic fund, so if you'd like to receive one and haven't yet donated, please donate today! You'll get your choice of ShadowFall characters on the art, too. Thanks so much to all of you who have donated, so far! You've really made a difference in my ability to continue producing the comic.
Speaking of the comic, I'm going to take a minute here to do something I rarely do: pat myself on the back. I'm really very pleased with the way the artwork has progressed, in Series Two. There is a HUGE difference in quality (for the better!) between the early issues and the last two. This is the result of continuously working on the comic, and trying hard to do things that are difficult for me. Even though I've only been able to do about one comic a week, lately, I'm still drawing on a regular basis, and that, by itself, is helping me to improve. I hope to continue improving, so I can come closer and closer to matching on the paper what I see in my head!
I guess that about does it, for today. Thanks, again, to all of you for sticking with me! You're the best!!
(^-^)
