Fan Art!!
Just a small update for today, but a nice one! My good friend and roommate, Carson Fire, has done a nice piece of art for me! This is his rendition of two of the elves from the elf comic that I started working on but never actually did anything with. He's done Prince Ceallach and Meredydd, and if I am lucky, he may even draw that whole short story, later! It's interesting to see other people's takes on my characters. I always enjoy that. A lot of people have told me they'd do fan art for me, if only they could draw my characters like I do. That kind of defeats the purpose of fan art, though, to try to draw someone's people exactly as they do. I think the whole idea is that you draw them in your own style, as you would have drawn them, had they been your own characters. My elves are physically a lot different from Carson's, in that they're taller and darker, but I think he's done a bang-up job of these two. (And if anyone would like to compare the two styles, just slip over to my elf story page and look for Ceallach and Merry, there.) This will also be visible in his Gallery here, on my site. Many thanks to Carson, for this great artwork!
I mentioned in the blog, earlier, that Gil "BstormDragon" Estrada won the song title contest, with his title, "Opticoustic." I haven't finished the prize art for him, but he chose Kirby and her Warlock guitar. I'll be sharing that with you, as well, once I have gotten the original to Gil. Thanks to him, and to all those who entered the contest! I thought it was great fun!
As for me, I've been busily writing for the new story. Not much in the way of artwork. I seem to be in a word phase, at the moment. At least I'm doing something, ne? I've also been keeping up with posts in the blog on the bottom of this page, and in my LiveJournal. I haven't missed a day of writing in that journal, yet! I'm very proud of myself, as I have not generally been good at keeping journals, in the past. I'm finding that I like it, a lot. I also have a Blogger account, but I think I prefer LJ to Blogger. LiveJournal is more of a community, where you can link to friends, and easily read each others' writings. Blogger feels more like a soapbox, and no matter how many others I know who have them, I never quite feel connected to them. It's like floating there all by yourself in Internet space. That's very likely the reason I never posted anything in it, after the initial entry! Oh well. LJ is superior, in my opinion. Drop into my journal and see me, if you feel like it!
Maybe I'll have something special to share, soon! I'm working on it, at least.
