Lieutenant Genjiro Nakadai. Genjiro is 22, the sheltered only child of wealthy parents, a young man who has spent a great deal of his life in the safe, controlled environments of university and the local dojo. As a result, he is somewhat naive, and totally unprepared for the vicious dealings of espionage work. He had no idea what he was getting into when he signed up for duty. He is also self-centered and soft-hearted, both of which can be fatal flaws in a field agent. He's a quick learner, though, and adapts to new situations fairly easily. He's an 8th Dan (8th level black belt) in Kyokushinkai karate. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue One, page 1 |

Major Ilyana Zhuravskaya. Ilyana is a defector from Erosia who now works as a double agent in the special forces division of Exedra's Greater Union Army. She is highly skilled in all aspects of espionage, is fluent in several languages and is physically strong. She's a no-nonsense woman, and is considered one of the GUA's best intelligence officers. However, she has a soft spot for good-looking men and straight vodka, and she likes having plenty of each around. She's 29 years old. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue One, page 2 |

Colonel Alexander Davidov. Thirty-five-year-old Alex is not only a colonel in the Erosian Space Corps, but he is a double agent in the service of Exedra, his homeworld's bitterest enemy. He's one of those people who stands ready and willing to sacrifice himself for his cause, yet he is intensely patriotic. His underground's goal is to move Erosia to republic status, and oust the imperialists. Alex is determined to do his part, no matter the personal cost. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue One, page 2 |

Major Masanori "Max" Igayama. Max is a fighter pilot, a ten-year veteran of Exedra's dauntless and daunting SAT (Space Assault Troops). He's currently on cruise with the spacecraft carrier Akagi. He's 28 years old, aggressive, hot-tempered and excessively foul-mouthed, when ticked off. In spite of being a hot shot, gung-ho, all-around macho kind of guy, Max has a morbid fear of spiders and non-comm aircraft mechanics. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue Two, page 11 |

Master Sergeant Diana Tsakonis. Diana is 27 years old, and Max's aircraft crew chief. She's also currently assigned to Akagi, and has been in the Navy about as long as Max has. Diana has a hot temper and a passionate soul, and she is very jealous of any female who comes within arm's reach of "her" pilot, Max. She enjoys belly dancing, and drinking beer. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue Two, page 28 |

General Joji Fuchida. Fuchida is the head of the GUA's intelligence branch, and has been for a year. He is so efficient and organized that his one year of command has shown a drastic improvement in operational successes. Fuchida considers himself a modern samurai, and expects absolute loyalty and obedience from his people. His dream is to assemble a team of martial artists to use in covert assignments, and he is hand-picking each of the potential agents. He is fond of Genjiro, and wants to have him on the team. He is 46 years old. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue Three, page 17 |

Anya Bui (Bui Ha Ahn). Anya is Genjiro's beautiful estranged wife. She's 20 years old, and is attending Edo University. She's preparing to enter the Meiji School of Medicine, and it's her ambition to become a reconstructive surgeon. Although she was born into a lower social strata than her husband, she is an elegant woman who enjoys Mozart concerti, fine wines and collecting antique porcelain items and glasswork. She also has a strong maternal personality, and loves children...especially Genjiro. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue Four, page 4 |

Colonel Chi Van Nguyen. So far, Chi is Fuchida's only bona fide Shinobi (ninja) agent. Chi is 38, a former interworld champion in full-contact, freestyle karate, and outwardly a very nasty man (but there's much more to him than meets the eye!). He was serving time in prison - for murder - when Fuchida found him and procured his release. All he had to do in return was to train a few ninja officers...and put himself into a different kind of prison. Chi has an intense dislike for Fuchida, and a secret lust for Ilyana. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue Five, page 21 |

Lieutenant Nikki LeFevre. Nikki is 23 years old, and is a 6th Dan in Tang Soo Do. Before being recruited for the ninja team, she had been teaching Tang Soo Do for a living. She and Genjiro became friends, during their basic training, but she wants to become more than just his friend. She describes herself as a "wild-eyed sex goddess." She enjoys running, swimming and buying weird antiques. First Appearance: Series one - Into the Abyss, Issue Six, page 1 |

Major Demian Sinyakov. Sinyakov is a major in the Erosian 6th Infantry, currently assigned to the occupation force on Ardo. He's 40 years old, and has been in the army all of his adult life. He's a ruthless man, not at all squeamish about the nastier aspects of his job, and he has very little patience with people. He's an avid hunter, and enjoys scuba diving in his spare time. He's married, and has two young sons and a Doberman Pinscher. First Appearance: Series two - The Secret of Nin, Issue One, page 2 |

Emperor Josef II. Josef is 54 years old, married, with six children. He took the throne ten years ago, after his older brother died, suddenly, leaving no heirs. Unlike his extravagant brother, Josef dislikes spending time in the opulent imperial country houses, choosing instead to stay in his rooms in the main palace at Novo Kiev. He's a rather quiet and soft-spoken man, but exercises total control over all his generals and admirals. They've all learned there's no arguing with him. First Appearance: Series two - The Secret of Nin, Issue One, page 20 |

General Zinaida Litvak. Zinaida is the head of Army Intelligence, Fuchida's Erosian counterpart. She's a former fighter pilot, and rather famous for her exploits in combat. She is one of the few pilots who holds the coveted Hero's Cross, which brings with it the title, "Hero of the Empire." Born 39 years ago to middle-class parents, she feels great contempt for the aristocracy. She has a hot temper, and her speech is blunt and colorful. First Appearance: Series two - The Secret of Nin, Issue One, page 20 |

Captain Shenya Teresky. Shenya is 30 years old, and is General Litvak's Aide de Camp. She's very attached to Zinaida, and is generally in awe of her. Empress Anna. Anna is 49 years old, married, with six children. She runs the Imperial household with a titanium fist, and most of the servants are terrified of her. Sometimes, Imperial guests are also afraid of her! Anna makes frequent use of the country houses which her husband neglects, often entertaining male "friends" there, for entire weekends, and the agendas of these men occasionally make it all the way to Josef. Anna and her "friends" have been the driving force for many of the major political machinations of the Empire, including the "natural" death of Josef's older brother, Michael. First Appearance: Series two - The Secret of Nin, Issue One, page 26 |

Suzuko Fuchida. Suzuko is General Fuchida's only daughter. She's 19 years old, and a sometime college student--studying whatever subject has caught her interest at any given moment. She has absolutely no interest in her father's work, but plenty of interest in the handsome young officers who are often visiting their home. Her mother died eight years ago, and since then, Suzuko has been the ruler of the house. She generally has good manners, but is prone to bouts of smart-ass remarks and occasional temper tantrums. First Appearance: Series two - The Secret of Nin, Issue Two, page 3 |

Derios of Todes. Derios is a Drahkma, a native of the darkside of Juso. If he were to count his years of existence, and express them in human terms, he would be about 30 years old. But Jusonians don't count time, and in his own method of estimation, he's very young. Derios has the ability to jump dimension, which is an illegal ability for a darkside Jusonian to possess. This is why he is hiding out on Exedra, where the planet's enormous electrical activity (from their billions of machines, etc) will mask his own energy output, to some degree. He is rather timid around humans, and he doesn't much trust them, but he realizes that he needs them, to survive. He is constantly worried that he will be found by the Sahjmi, for he knows if he is, he will be executed. First Appearance: Series two - The Secret of Nin, Issue Two, page 12 |
